Markit was commended for its work on the Markit iBoxx ABF indices, the first family of independent local currency bond indices in Asia. The Markit iBoxx ABF indices serve as the benchmarks for the Asian Bond Fund 2 initiative which was established by the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia Pacific Central Banks to encourage the development of the region’s domestic bond markets. This initiative has gathered more than $4 billion in assets since its launch in 2005.
Randolf Tantzscher, Director of Asian Indices at Markit, said: “The Markit iBoxx ABF indices are well-established, independent benchmarks that are supported by multiple market makers providing prices and liquidity. Investors have become increasingly interested in Asian bond markets over the last few years and we are delighted that our efforts in the Asian index market to provide innovative and transparent index solutions have been recognised through this award.”
Markit opened its first office in the APAC region in 2005 and continues to expand its presence in the region with offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Delhi.
