NSX Releases December 2008 ETF/ETN Data Report Record Year-End Net Cash Flow and Notional Volume ..
National Stock Exchange, Inc. (NSX®) announced that net cash flow into U.S. listed Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF) and Exchange-Traded Notes (ETN) totaled a record $180.4 billion through year-end 2008, an increase of almost 19% from 2007 when net cash flow reached $152.2 billion.
At the end of December 2008, the number of listed products totaled 848, compared to 672 listed products one year ago.
ETF/ETN notional trading volume also reached a new record of $24.8 trillion for 2008, up 70% from $14.5 trillion at year-end 2007, representing 33% of all U.S. equity trading volume.
ETF/ETN assets reached $539 billion in December 2008, a decrease of 13% from December 2007 when assets reached $622.6 billion.
