{"id":20311,"date":"2019-09-23T09:22:39","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T08:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starthostunlimiteddmffassi-ss.stackstaging.com\/etfworld.co.uk\/?p=20311"},"modified":"2020-05-12T10:55:29","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T09:55:29","slug":"sterling-gains-capped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etfworld.com\/nl\/sterling-gains-capped\/","title":{"rendered":"Sterling Gains Capped"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">RationalFX : Sterling had a mixed day on Friday as it opened the session at multi-month highs against the EUR and USD, but closed lower due to ongoing Brexit uncertainty. &#8230;<!--more--><span id=\"more-32986\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/starthostunlimiteddmffassi-ss.stackstaging.com\/etfworld.co.uk\/newsletter\" class=\"broken_link\">Sign up to our free newsletters<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RationalFX<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The initial rise in Sterling was due to European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, stating that a Brexit deal was still possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Juncker stated in an interview that the EU are willing to \u201chave a deal\u201d and that he doesn\u2019t have an \u201cemotional relationship to the backstop.\u201d Juncker added that \u201cif the objectives are met &#8211; all of them &#8211; we don\u2019t need the backstop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, Sterling gains were short lived as Ireland\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister cooled expectations that a Brexit deal was close.
