{"id":26250,"date":"2022-07-11T10:15:14","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T09:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etfworld.com\/co.uk\/?p=26250"},"modified":"2022-07-11T16:07:25","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T15:07:25","slug":"oxford-risk-mena-investors-will-make-more-use-of-mutual-funds-and-etfs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etfworld.com\/co.uk\/oxford-risk-mena-investors-will-make-more-use-of-mutual-funds-and-etfs\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford Risk : Mena investors will make more use of mutual funds and ETFs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oxford Risk : Wealth managers across MENA expect clients to switch more money into collective schemes such as mutual funds over the next three years, new research* for behavioural finance experts Oxford Risk shows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"\/newsletter\" class=\"broken_link\"><strong>Sign up to our free newsletters<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Will Rhind, Founder and CEO at GraniteShares<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Reliance on cash is set to change, Oxford Risk research shows<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Its study with independent financial advisers and wealth managers in MENA who collectively manage assets of around $290 billion, found more than three out of four (77%) expect a surge in investment in collective schemes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>More than a fifth (21%) questioned in the research with wealth managers in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, and Oman, believe there will be a dramatic expansion in the use of mutual funds and ETFs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The switch to mutual funds and ETFs is set to change the focus on cash in wealth management across the region \u2013 currently as much as 45% of total wealth in MENA is in cash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Around 61% of wealth managers predict the share of cash will drop by 2025 with nearly a quarter (23%) forecasting it will drop significantly. Not all are convinced, with 20% saying the share of total wealth in cash will rise while 19% expect no change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oxford Risk is urging wealth advisers in the region to make more use of technology to provide improved services to clients based around understanding their needs through detailed profiling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #9ab62f;\"><strong>Greg B Davies, PhD,\u202fHead of Behavioural Finance,\u202fOxford Risk<\/strong><\/span> said: \u201cThe shift to more use of mutual funds and ETFs puts the onus on advisers to deliver more consistent support to clients focused on risk tolerance and asset allocation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cThe same applies to the reliance on cash \u2013 the worry is that many potential investors are missing out on stronger returns because they are not emotionally comfortable with taking appropriate amounts of risk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cEmploying software\u202fto guide\u202fdecisions helps them become more consistent.\u202f Once a specific framework for the measurement of\u202frisk tolerance, risk capacity and other relevant factors is established it can be run at scale and speed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Oxford Risk\u2019s behavioural tools assess financial personality and preferences as well as changes in investors\u2019 financial situations and, supplemented with other behavioural information and demographics, build a comprehensive profile. Oxford Risk\u2019s financial personality tests can measure up to 18 distinct dimensions, of which six reflect preferences for ESG investing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It believes the best investment solution for each investor needs to be anchored on stable and accurate measures of risk tolerance. Behavioural profiling then provides an opportunity for investors to learn about their own attitudes, emotions, and biases, helping them prepare for the anxiety that is likely to arise.
