{"id":20245,"date":"2019-09-09T11:43:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T10:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starthostunlimiteddmffassi-ss.stackstaging.com\/etfworld.co.uk\/?p=20245"},"modified":"2020-05-12T10:55:55","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T09:55:55","slug":"lyxor-etf-money-monitor-august-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etfworld.com\/co.uk\/lyxor-etf-money-monitor-august-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Lyxor ETF Money Monitor &#8211; August 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lyxor ETF Money Monitor: An eventful summer for European ETF flows.In August, net new assets in the European ETF market collapsed to -\u20ac8.5bn from the \u20ac15.2bn we saw in July&#8230;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"\/newsletter\" class=\"broken_link\"><strong>Sign up to our free newsletters<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>By Marl\u00e8ne Hassine Konqui, Head of ETF Research and Kristo Durbaku, ETF Research Analyst<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Equity ETFs suffered their worst month ever (-\u20ac12.7bn). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, flows into fixed income (\u20ac2.2bn), smart beta (\u20ac504m) and commodities ETFs (\u20ac126m) slowed but stayed positive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With \u20ac1.4bn of inflows, <strong>ESG ETFs<\/strong> continued their rise in August and brought their total for the year to \u20ac8.5bn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Focus: Flight to safety <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last month\u2019s ETF flows reflected investors\u2019 worries over the overall economic and political environment.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s little doubt escalating global trade tensions and the slower global growth outlook have been driving money into defensive investments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In August, equity ETFs recorded their worst month ever with \u20ac12.7bn of outflows.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All equity subcategories suffered.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, all safe havens were in demand.
